We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytically driven Media Analyst to join a Communications Measurement team focused on evaluating the effectiveness and impact of communications initiatives across traditional media, social media, and owned channels.
This role is ideal for someone with a background in journalism, communications, research, media analysis, public affairs, media measurement, think tanks, academia, or media agencies. The successful candidate will help assess the impact of major news cycles and communications efforts through both qualitative analysis and quantitative data insights. You will contribute to strategic decision-making by providing actionable intelligence and measurement frameworks that inform communications leadership.
The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, can manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines, and demonstrates excellent communication and collaboration skills while working with stakeholders across global teams. Attention to detail, flexibility, strong organizational skills, and the ability to deliver high-quality work under pressure are critical for success in this role.
By analyzing media activity across a broad range of issues, you will gain a deep understanding of how proactive and reactive communications strategies influence public perception and organizational outcomes on a global scale.
Responsibilities
- Read, analyze, and summarize media coverage related to key business, policy, and industry issues.
- Monitor domestic and international news cycles and provide contextual analysis and insights.
- Inform stakeholders about relevant policy developments and emerging media trends.
- Create reports and presentations featuring media insights, performance metrics, and data visualizations.
- Evaluate the impact of communications initiatives across traditional media, social media, and owned channels.
- Support the development of meaningful KPIs and measurement frameworks for communications campaigns and initiatives.
- Deliver qualitative assessments and quantitative analysis to inform future communications strategies.
- Analyze large volumes of media and social conversation data to identify trends, opportunities, and risks.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders across multiple regions and time zones.
- Identify key learnings from media coverage and social conversation analysis to support strategic decision-making.
- Maintain awareness of fast-moving news cycles and provide timely insights to internal stakeholders.
Minimum Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in media analysis, communications, journalism, research, public affairs, marketing, or a related field.
- Fluent in both English and Spanish (written and verbal).
- Experience managing multiple deliverables in a deadline-driven environment.
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills with experience handling and interpreting data sets.
- Experience creating reports and presenting insights to stakeholders.
- Experience synthesizing complex information into concise summaries and actionable recommendations.
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Political Science, Marketing, Economics, Statistics, Broadcast Media, or a related field.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to remain flexible and perform effectively in a rapidly changing environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience using media monitoring and measurement platforms.
- Familiarity with Brandwatch, Cision, or similar analytics tools.
- Experience conducting media measurement projects and social media analysis.
- Experience drafting communications materials and/or writing news summaries.
- Understanding of media metrics, analytics, and performance measurement methodologies.
- Experience creating data visualizations and communicating insights through dashboards and reports.
- Experience working for a media agency, media analysis firm, media measurement platform, think tank, research institution, or communications organization.
