ABOUT THIS FEATURED OPPORTUNITY

Our client is seeking a Data Center Critical Facility Engineer to join its Data Center Facility Operations team. These data centers serve as the foundation for critical business operations and infrastructure. The Critical Facility Engineer will be part of the Facility Operations team responsible for operating and maintaining mission-critical systems within the data center environment.

THE OPPORTUNITY FOR YOU

  • Perform hands-on operations and maintenance activities, including both physical and administrative tasks, in accordance with site processes and procedures to ensure maximum uptime, efficiency, and safety.
  • Complete work order requests accurately and on time using an Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) system.
  • Develop and maintain a high level of technical knowledge related to data center infrastructure and operations, including successful completion of qualification training requirements.
  • Provide technical expertise and support as needed.
  • Respond quickly to facility emergencies using established operating procedures.
  • Regularly inspect equipment, buildings, safety routes, and grounds to identify abnormal or unsafe conditions.
  • Troubleshoot systems and recommend upgrades and improvements.
  • Order parts and supplies required for maintenance and repairs.
  • Coordinate with vendors and contractors to ensure work is completed according to established processes, procedures, and standards.
  • Escalate issues to facility management appropriately and in a timely manner.
  • Assist with scheduling and supervising vendors and subcontractors during maintenance and service activities.
  • Continuously recommend improvements to the operations and maintenance program.
  • Work a shift schedule, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Utilize Building Management Systems (BMS) and monitoring tools in a control room environment to operate remote equipment, monitor alerts, diagnose faults, centralize communications, and prioritize resource dispatch.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • 7+ years of experience in electrical, HVAC, mechanical, controls, or another technical maintenance field.
  • Associate's degree in Engineering with 5+ years of relevant experience, or Bachelor's degree in a related field with 3+ years of experience in electrical, HVAC, mechanical, or controls, may be considered in lieu of the 7+ years of experience requirement.
  • Ability to:
    • Use hands and fingers for various tasks.
    • Reach, push, and pull with arms, hands, and shoulders.
    • Stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
    • Lift and/or move 45 pounds or more.
    • Work at a workstation for extended periods, with or without reasonable accommodation.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and life safety monitoring and control systems commonly used in critical environments.
  • Experience interpreting blueprints and CAD drawings.
  • Knowledge of critical facilities operations.
  • Experience with EAM/CMMS systems.
  • Trade certification or state licensure in Electrical or Mechanical (HVAC).
  • 7+ years of experience in a data center or other critical environments such as pharmaceutical, clean room, medical, or power generation facilities.
  • Participation in professional organizations such as 7×24 Exchange, IFMA, or Data Center Pulse.
