Position Summary
Our client is seeking a Splunk Engineer / Splunk Administrator to support, maintain, and optimize enterprise monitoring and observability platforms within a secure government contracting environment.
The ideal candidate will bring strong experience administering Splunk environments, onboarding enterprise data sources, developing dashboards and alerts, troubleshooting platform issues, and supporting infrastructure and security operations teams.
This individual will play a key role in improving operational visibility, platform performance, monitoring effectiveness, and enterprise observability capabilities.

Key Responsibilities
• Administer and maintain Splunk Enterprise environments
• Configure and support Search Heads, Indexers, Heavy Forwarders, and Universal Forwarders
• Develop dashboards, visualizations, reports, and alerts
• Onboard new data sources and integrate enterprise systems
• Troubleshoot Splunk performance and ingestion issues
• Optimize searches, indexing strategies, and platform health
• Partner with infrastructure, cloud, and security teams
• Support enterprise monitoring and observability initiatives
• Perform root cause analysis and operational troubleshooting
• Develop and maintain technical documentation and standards
• Support automation and continuous improvement efforts
• Evaluate and recommend improvements to monitoring capabilities

Required Qualifications
• 3+ years of Splunk administration or engineering experience
• Strong knowledge of Splunk Enterprise
• Experience developing dashboards, alerts, and searches using SPL
• Experience onboarding and managing enterprise data sources
• Experience administering Search Heads, Indexers, and Forwarders
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Experience supporting enterprise production environments
• Understanding of Windows and/or Linux infrastructure
• Experience with monitoring, observability, or operational intelligence platforms

Preferred Qualifications
• Splunk Enterprise Security (ES)
• Splunk ITSI
• Splunk Cloud
• AWS and/or Azure exposure
• PowerShell, Python, or Bash scripting
• VMware experience
• Active Directory experience
• ServiceNow integration experience
• Government contracting (GovCon) experience
• Familiarity with CUI, CMMC, or NIST 800-171 environments
