Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Business Process Optimization Consultant to partner with executive leadership in evaluating and optimizing business operations across a growing legal organization. This individual will conduct a comprehensive assessment of the firm's current processes, identify operational inefficiencies, establish meaningful performance metrics, and develop recommendations that improve productivity, scalability, and overall business performance.
This is not a traditional project management role. We are looking for someone with a strong background in Operational Excellence, Lean, Six Sigma, Business Process Improvement, or Continuous Improvement who can objectively assess the organization, challenge existing processes, and recommend best practices. Legal industry experience is a plus but not required.
The ideal candidate has successfully led operational transformation initiatives within professional services, financial services, healthcare, insurance, or other complex service organizations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct a comprehensive operational assessment across departments to identify process inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Interview executive leadership, department heads, and staff to understand current workflows, responsibilities, and organizational challenges.
  • Map current-state business processes and design future-state workflows that improve efficiency, accountability, and scalability.
  • Evaluate organizational structure, handoffs, communication channels, and operational effectiveness.
  • Develop executive-level recommendations focused on operational excellence and sustainable process improvements.
  • Establish meaningful KPIs, dashboards, and performance metrics that allow leadership to measure productivity, efficiency, quality, and business outcomes.
  • Identify opportunities to automate manual processes and improve workflow consistency through technology or process redesign.
  • Recommend industry best practices that support organizational growth and operational maturity.
  • Facilitate workshops with leadership to prioritize initiatives and build implementation roadmaps.
  • Present findings, executive summaries, and actionable recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Partner closely with the CEO, COO, and executive team throughout the engagement.

 Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in Business Process Improvement, Operational Excellence, Continuous Improvement, Business Transformation, or Management Consulting.
  • Proven experience leading enterprise-wide process optimization initiatives.
  • Strong knowledge of Lean methodologies, Six Sigma principles, Value Stream Mapping, process mapping, and workflow analysis.
  • Experience designing operational metrics, KPI frameworks, and executive dashboards.
  • Exceptional analytical, facilitation, and executive presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence executive stakeholders and drive organizational change.
  • Experience documenting business processes and developing strategic recommendations.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Operations, Industrial Engineering, Management, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, Black Belt, or Master Black Belt certification.
  • Experience within legal services, professional services, consulting, financial services, healthcare, or insurance organizations.
  • Experience leading organizational assessments or operational audits.
  • Familiarity with change management methodologies.
