Senior Accountant

Location: Irving, TX
Schedule: Hybrid (4 days in office, 1 day remote)

About the Opportunity

A large national wholesale distribution company is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join its corporate accounting team. This role supports multiple distribution centers and is responsible for financial reporting, general ledger accounting, month-end close activities, and ensuring compliance with GAAP.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and post journal entries to the general ledger for multiple distribution centers.
• Compile and analyze financial information to support accurate accounting records.
• Analyze Profit & Loss (P&L) trends, estimates, and significant variances.
• Prepare and review balance sheets, income statements, and other financial reports.
• Analyze financial data related to assets, liabilities, and capital.
• Ensure financial transactions are recorded accurately and in accordance with company policies.
• Monitor compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies, errors, and inconsistencies.
• Support month-end and year-end close activities.
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure accurate financial reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
• 2–5 years of accounting experience.
• CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Experience with general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
• Experience with vendor rebate accounting and inventory accounting is a plus.
• Experience with SAP and Vistex is a plus.
• Experience in the building materials, distribution, wholesale, or consumer products industry is preferred.
