Title: Research Program Manager IV
We are seeking a hands-on Research Program Manager IV to build and improve the systems, workflows, and measurement frameworks that support a large-scale research organization. This role combines program management, operational analytics, automation, and change management, requiring someone who can turn ambiguous problems into practical, measurable, and scalable solutions.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Manage and continuously improve operational processes, including intake tracking, milestones, risks, dependencies, and stakeholder communications.
- Build and maintain portfolio management systems covering project status, data completeness, vendor and tool usage, and recurring leadership reporting.
- Develop AI-enabled and automated workflows that improve research operations, self-service capabilities, and operational efficiency.
- Identify recurring process bottlenecks and translate findings into documentation, automation, support workflows, or escalation paths.
- Define and track metrics related to research velocity, portfolio health, tool adoption, cost efficiency, self-service coverage, and workflow impact.
- Perform hands-on analysis using SQL, spreadsheets, dashboards, vendor data, tracker data, and qualitative operational signals.
- Build dashboards and recurring reports that translate operational data into actionable recommendations.
- Drive adoption of new tools and processes through training, usage measurement, data-quality improvements, feedback collection, and iteration.
- Partner with research leadership, data science, finance, legal, privacy, operations, and external vendors.
- Prepare executive-ready summaries, trade-off analyses, and evidence-based recommendations.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of program or project management experience in cross-functional environments.
- 3+ years of experience in operational analytics, program analytics, business operations, data analysis, or metrics-focused roles.
- Proven experience designing and delivering complex operational programs or systems from concept through scaled adoption.
- Strong hands-on SQL skills and advanced proficiency with Excel or Google Sheets.
- Experience independently analyzing complex operational datasets and identifying actionable trends.
- Experience building dashboards and recurring reporting using Tableau, Looker, Power BI, or comparable BI tools.
- Demonstrated ability to define metrics and translate analysis into operational and business decisions.
- Experience applying AI or automation to operational or analytical workflows, including appropriate quality and human-review controls.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, analytical judgment, and executive-level presentation abilities.
- Bachelor’s degree in an analytical or quantitative field, or equivalent professional experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting research operations, user research, product insights, product operations, or another knowledge-intensive function.
- Experience with workflow automation or lightweight systems development using Python, Apps Script, SQLite, or comparable technologies.
- Familiarity with data governance, privacy, provenance, access controls, and compliance-sensitive operations.
- Experience managing research repositories, knowledge-management systems, or research libraries.
- Experience with vendor management, procurement, budgeting, or program-impact measurement.
- Experience evaluating AI vendors, internal tools, or self-service solutions.
- Experience operating in a fast-paced, large-scale product or technology organization.
