Work Requirements: US Citizen, GC Holders or Authorized to Work in the U.S.

Skillset / Experience:
Our client, a growing midstream energy company, is seeking an experienced Pipeline Operations Accounting Consultant to provide immediate support following the resignation of a key team member. This role is critical to maintaining the operational accounting and reporting functions for a portfolio of nine interstate and intrastate pipelines regulated under FERC guidelines.

The consultant will step into a highly visible role supporting recently acquired pipeline assets and will be responsible for managing operational accounting activities, validating rates and volumes, preparing billings, and ensuring accurate transfer of data between Quorum Pipeline Accounting and the company's general ledger system.

This is a hands-on role requiring deep expertise in pipeline operational accounting and Quorum. While training will be provided on NetSuite, the successful candidate must be able to contribute immediately with minimal ramp-up time in the operational accounting environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day operational accounting activities for a portfolio of nine pipelines.
  • Utilize Quorum Pipeline Accounting to process and validate transportation activities, rates, volumes, contracts, and customer billings.
  • Extract operational accounting data from Quorum and accurately transfer information into the company's general ledger system.
  • Support monthly accounting close activities related to pipeline operations.
  • Review and reconcile transportation volumes, throughput records, rates, invoices, and customer billings.
  • Verify tariff rates and ensure compliance with applicable FERC regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Investigate and resolve operational accounting discrepancies and billing issues.
  • Coordinate with Commercial, Operations, Regulatory, and Accounting teams to ensure accurate reporting of pipeline activity.
  • Assist with documentation, process improvements, and knowledge transfer during the transition period.
  • Maintain strong internal controls and accurate supporting documentation.
  • Support the accounting team while the company completes its search for a permanent employee.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in pipeline operational accounting.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with Quorum Pipeline Accounting.
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Pipeline transportation accounting
    • Throughput and volume accounting
    • Pipeline billings and settlements
    • Tariff rate structures
    • FERC-regulated pipelines
    • Operational accounting processes
  • Experience extracting operational data and interfacing with general ledger systems.
  • Ability to quickly assess existing processes and maintain continuity during a transition period.
  • Strong analytical and reconciliation skills.
  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting companies operating multiple interstate or intrastate pipeline systems.
  • Familiarity with NetSuite or other ERP/GL systems.
  • Experience supporting recently acquired assets and system integrations.
  • Background in midstream energy operations.

Ideal Candidate
The ideal consultant is someone who has previously supported pipeline operating companies and can immediately take ownership of the operational accounting function. This individual will possess expert-level Quorum knowledge, understand how rates, volumes, and billings flow through the operational accounting process, and be comfortable working within a FERC-regulated environment while serving as a critical bridge until a permanent employee is hired.
