While it’s easy to underestimate the importance of these more intangible characteristics, it’s imperative you put your soft skills on the forefront when developing your resume and interviewing for jobs. The more you can project yourself as a talented and well-rounded candidate, the better positioned you’ll be to impress employers. Take note of these top five skills that will help get you hired:
Adaptability.
Health IT environments can naturally be stressful and fast-paced, and your ability to adapt to ever-changing circumstances is key. For interviews, you’ll want to prepare examples of when you exhibited adaptability in previous workplaces, such as effectively dealing with an IT crisis or filling in for a sick employee. Any opportunity to show when you adjusted to your workplace will bode well in the eyes of employers.
Ability to meet deadlines.
Being deadline-driven is critical for any successful IT pro, especially in a healthcare setting. This is because your colleagues depend on your tech expertise to ensure they can do their jobs efficiently on behalf of patients. Whether it’s capturing patient data or making sure systems are operating as smoothly as possible, you must show an ability to multitask and complete projects in a timely manner.
Communication skills.
